So, I decided last year that plain old trick-or-treating just isn’t enough for my little ones on Halloween. I thought, instead, add pre-party to the fun and this year we will have a house full of 20 kids, and their parents, all 5 and under to celebrate before we head out around the neighborhood. Here are some simple things you can do to throw a Halloween party for your ghouls and goblins:
Entertainment:
An fun idea for the kids is to let them decorate their own sugar cookies. Set up a table (we are putting ours outside to avoid a mess) and place sugar cookie cutouts, along with bowls of different colored icings, plastic utensils, and fun sprinkles out. The kids will have a blast making and eating their own creations.
On the same table we will be making marshmallow spiders…a couple marshmallows for the body, pretzel sticks for the legs, and some chocolate chips for the eyes!
Decorations:
‘Haunt’ your house without making it too scary for the little ones…One of the best Ideas I’ve found is using black trash bags to make ‘haunted curtains’!
Another easy and inexpensive idea is spiderwebs! Instead of the usual putting them on the front porch, this year I brought them inside as well. I put them on everything! Every picture and wall hanging is covered!
The last of the main decorations I have used is Halloween Garland…banasters, book shelves, doorways, drape it everywhere! I found this cute pumpkin one at Target
Add some balck streamers to the ceiling and a couple black lights to floor and table lamps and you are ready to go!
I’ll let you know how the party turns out!
